Finnegan's Banditos Review

Kalamba has a varied and large back catalog of different releases under their belt by now, but very few of them are “sticky” high on the charts. They lack an iconic release that really puts them on the map in other words, and we hardly think this El Vigilante reskin job fits the bill. Finnegan's Banditos is a very half-hearted attempt at mixing the Irish Luck and Wild West theme, but Kalamba has hardly bothered to change the visuals.

The Wild symbol is the most notable change, and it’s now some Irish-looking gentleman dressed up in green with 2 walking sticks instead of swords. The scatter is now a pot of gold instead of “Zorro” silhouetted against the full moon, but everything else, including the math model, the features, the bandidos and the backdrop, remains the same. This is the most butchered reskin job we’ve ever seen actually, and the lack of self-irony, or even a hint of humor, makes it even worse.

The premium character symbols pay between 10 and 50 x your stake for 5 of a kind wins, and the red-bearded Irish-looking gentleman dressed in green is the Wild symbol. Review Summary

Kalamba seems to enjoy mixing things up, and creating somewhat incongruent themes. Blending the usually cheerful Irish Luck motif with a Wild West theme can only really work if it’s done with a great dose of self-irony and humor, and this is not really the case in Finnegan's Banditos. Of course, it doesn’t help that this is a reskin of the less-than-memorable El Vigilante, down to the hypnotic looking Wild symbol dude that now looks ready to apply for a mascot job at Mr Green.

All the desperado character symbols are identical to the previous release, and so is the backdrop, math model and features. At the very least, change the jail in the background to an Irish Pub, but no, outside of the green-clad wild dude and pots of gold scatters there is hardly anything Irish to be found in this release. It comes across as a very cheap attempt at rehashing an unsuccessful game, and the announced 10,136x potential still seems a bit far-fetched (although 6,014.3x has been achieved in the original release).
